I still remember the first day VR filmmaker Carlos Austin guided me in this mesmerizing virtual world as our avatars swung together with dolphins in deep ocean waters~

Until this day, I can still “hear” the singing sounds, “touch” the smooth belly of a playful dolphin, and “see” the deep blue waters surrounding us.Carlos invested decades in the space of wedding photography, something my dad also did for a while before he pivoted into a different path.

Back then, when I followed my dad around across all kinds of weddings, I would find myself totally submerged in the pure joy of witnessing two people finding each other with deep love and a healthy dose of anxiety after navigating the unpredictable waters called life.That was a moment of pure magic.

As for Carlos, eight years ago, an interesting experience pivoted him into making VR films. In this MAGICademy conversation, we will explore what it takes to be a filmmaker in the virtual world, and how we can learn a thing or two in our day-to-day collaborative life on perspective-taking, just like a filmmaker.
